The cast of familiar British actors does a superb job. Richard Attenborough shines in his portrayal of a weak, confused man, who's slipped over the brink of bitterness, depression and madness. Harry Secombe adds a contrastingly jovial note. And a young Paul Eddington (best known from the much later Yes, Minister series) is interesting as a not-very-admirable husband. A significant part of Big Jet TV’s appeal is its founder and host, Jerry Dyer, who has built up a cult audience online for his unfiltered excitable commentary. Watching the channel is the transport equivalent of tuning into Sky Sports’ longrunning Soccer Saturday programme – except rather than having a retired footballer enthusiastically reporting a goal, viewers are treated to Dyer screeching with delight when a pilot pulls off a challenging landing. In the show, Jetstorm has no feet and never walks. He only touches the ground when he is prone/disabled.

Spotting an Air China cargo flight from Beijing coming in, he dubs it the “testkit express”, explaining that up to five planes a day have been flying in since the start of the pandemic delivering medical supplies to the UK.I think this guy’s gonna struggle. He’s all over the place. Here we go, here we go. Easy, easy. He’s down!” he cried. A sting jet is a small area of very intense winds (often 100mph or more) that can sometimes form inpowerful weather systems crossing the UK.Relative to the size of thestorm, the sting jet is narrow, often 30 miles across, and only lasts 3 to 4 hours.

We know that warm air rises and cold air sinks; that’s what creates cloud and rain. It also helps to form areas of low pressure, sometimes turning them into storms. Areas of low pressure almost always have weather fronts as part of their structure, unless they’re a tropical storm. These fronts separate areas of warm and cold air and it’s their interaction that creates and develops wet and windy weather.

What is a sting jet?

As one wobbling Air Algiers flight approached the Heathrow runway on Friday morning, Dyer shouted over the wind and made predictions about whether the aircraft would have to abandon its approach and make a “go-around”. Close to the two fronts we see focused streams of air called conveyor belts, which run up into the atmosphere. They only cover the parts of the country affected and last for a period of hours or sometimes days. Most often they are for rain, wind, snow and heat. The cold conveyor brings its cold air from higher in the atmosphere and from being in a cold air mass. Sometimes it has help from rain and snow as they fall into it and evaporate. This change from liquid to gas requires heat, which is removed from the conveyor, cooling it further. Now we have even colder air falling along the conveyor, speeding up as it does so, like a rollercoaster taking the first drop. They are likely to mean complete disruption to travel, loss of power and water, and significant damage to homes and businesses that is likely to endanger life.

An amber warning covers England and Wales until 9pm today, while northern parts of England, southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland have a slightly less severe, yellow warning lasting from 7am to 6pm. The TV Guide critic wrote, "... thanks to an outstanding cast, this air-disaster film manages to limp to a landing with its 'thriller' status intact." [4] The Radio Times applauded "... a star turn for Attenborough, who brings a convincing complexity to the role of bomber and bereft father." [5] References [ edit ] They can also be used when the impact of the weather could be much more severe – and even endanger life – but is less likely. Thrust would refer to Silverbolt as "Jetstorm" from this point on, bitter and viewing the Maximal as Jetstorm having turned traitor.

Close to the fronts there tends to be more focused streams of warm and cold air that run parallel to them. They are known as conveyor belts; the warm conveyor rises and the cold conveyor falls. These wrap around the area of low pressure and help develop it by feeding warm air and moisture into the system. The most severe red-level warning is in place for part of the southwest of England and south Wales until midday today.
